Our Story
Back when Pokémon GO became a world-wide craze, we at Solid Factory came up with an idea that would eventually lead us to our signature dual-tone printing technique. It all began with a friend’s request for a Bulbasaur planter.
What was initially supposed to be a personal gift turned into a nearly year-long project. Bulbasaur became our platform to prove our concept. Our first prototype, to put lightly, was embarrassingly horrendous. That hapless Bulbasaur looked like it needed the Pokémon graveyard more than the Pokémon Center. “Was this a failed idea? Did we bite off more than we could chew?” But we kept at it, constantly refined it and, at last, produced a product we felt was worthy of our friend and the rest of the world. With many thanks to our customers, our planter soon became a best-seller and was featured on BuzzFeed. And, of course, none of this would’ve been possible without the original designer, LeoDuhVinci, who graciously shared his design on Thingiverse (thing:633081).
Since our release of our very first product, the "Jelly-Donut" Bulbasaur Planter (which has gone through 195 iterations...and counting), we have since designed and released various products. Most have been successful while others...complete duds. Whatever the outcome, we "Do. Or do not. There is no try." (Master Yoda, The Empire Strikes Back) Ergo, we are constantly thinking of ways we can improve our current products as well as generate new products as we believe our customers deserve our continuous attention to delivering quality products.
